NavTools Lite is intended as an all-round Navigation utility for both merchant navy shipping and yachting. Amongst the many features of this application: Route-planning and tracking, using an unlimited number of waypoints, either via great circle navigation or rhumbline. Port information such as VHF channels, schedules, agent-addresses, draft-limitations, etc can be entered and will be available to the navigator when approaching or entering the port. Checklists can be edited and tagged by the navigator. Each time an item is tagged, date, time, and description will automatically be written to a text-logging file, available for later analysis or printout.
Astro-Navigation, the application includes an internal almanac with sun, moon, all planets, and 61 stars, and offers a list of all visible celestial objects at your present location and time. Astronomical (sextant) observations can be entered, whereafter the software will calculate your true position as well as an estimated accuracy of this position.
Performance monitoring, the application will keep track of your course and speed along the voyage, and calculate both the present current (direction and speed) as well as the overall performance of your vessel. This information is saved to disk and can be recalled when planning the next voyage.
Hurricane tracking, you can enter an unlimited number of hurricane, tropical storm, or tropical depression positions, whereafter the software will continuously calculate the present dead-reckoning position of each storm and list its present distance and direction from your vessel, enabling you to calculate timely avoidance measures.
Tools and utilities, many handy tools are available, for instance to convert to and from many metric units, calculate present squat, calculate distance of 'wheel over point', calculate geographical range of lights, etc.
