Description of WinRename program from Softdepia.com:
Add or replace text in Windows filenames easily. Requirements: Windows 95,98,NT4,2000,XP Microsoft Visual Basic 5 runtime. Instructions: To prefix or suffix files: Select the files you want to rename in the left-hand list box. You can multiple selct using the ctrl key. Type in the text string you which to prefix, suffix.... Hit the Add button. To replace text strings in filenames: Select the files you want to rename in the left-hand list box. Type in the Text Replace box the text you wish to remove, and type in the text you wish to replace it with. If you replace it with a blank the text string will be removed from all selected files.. Hit the Replace button. The file windows are fully resizable, so if you've got a 1600x1200 display you can easily see long filenames and directories and drives. (I hate it when you've got a network drive with a name like X:(\\LONDONFILESERVER2023) and you only see the first half and you've got a dozen servers named like that!)
